This engaging lesson teaches 3rd – 6th graders that diversity is beautiful and to be accepting of differences.
♥️ Students “meet” 25 diverse kids and explore their cultures, interests, hobbies, abilities, languages, families, personalities, styles, strengths, and more. By exposing students to these unique and special characters, they learn to be curious, accepting, tolerant, and welcoming of differences.
✨ THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES:
- A PowerPoint and digital for Google Slides™ presentation that introduces the concept of diversity with a garden metaphor. Then, it teaches students the definition of diversity and 5 reasons why diversity is beautiful. Finally, it introduces students to all 25 diverse kids and includes discussion questions.
- 18 “Diversity Chat” discussion cards
- 25 “diverse kids” posters that introduce each character’s favorite school subject, hobby, food, place, and music. Then, they provide a description of the character’s culture, beliefs, style, personality, interests, language, ethnic background, abilities, etc.
- 6 discussion cards that go along with each of the 25 diverse kids (150 in all)
- Assorted worksheets and coloring pages
- Materials included in full color and black/white
