Description
Teach your students to cope with anger and BIG feelings with this adorable campfire-themed lesson!
⭐ This resource teaches students that anger is like a fire roaring inside of us. Just like a fire, it starts small. But if we don’t “tame” it with coping skills, it will grow and become harder and harder to control.
❤️ Students learn:
- The 5 levels of anger
- How to use an anger scale
- What “sparks” their anger fire
- What anger looks like in their body
- What “fuels” their anger fire (anger triggers)
- 10 common anger triggers
- How to “tame their anger flames” with coping skills
- 12 coping skills to manage their anger
✅ THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES:
- A digital for Google Slides™ and PowerPoint presentation
- “What Fuels My Anger Fire” interactive activity: Students choose which of the 20 anger triggers written on logs “fuel” their anger fire the most. Then, they place them on the campfire. Blank logs are also included so students can write their own.
- “Tame My Anger Flames” interactive activity: Set up this activity with a paper lunch sack. To play, students choose one of 18 coping skills written on splashes of water. Then, they roll the dice. Depending on which number they roll, they do an action with the coping skill (i.e. model it, explain how it’s helpful, teach the group how to do it, etc.). Next, they “put their anger fire out” by “feeding” the coping skills splash to the fire (putting it inside of the fire’s mouth into the bag).
- 7 instructional posters
- Assorted worksheets and coloring pages
- Alignment to ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors
- Materials included in full color and black/white
✨ This lesson is perfect for classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling!
