Description
This body mapping exercise teaches students of all ages to identify the physical signs of anxiety in their bodies.
✅ This activity is perfect for individual counseling, small group counseling, and centers. It can also be used in large groups/classrooms.
⭐ To play, students choose a metaphor card that explains how anxiety feels in their body. Then, they place the card on the part of the body on the printed body cut-out where they most experience that feeling.
⚡ For example, they may place the butterflies fluttering on the tummy, the bees buzzing on the ears, the pins and needles on the hand, and the alarm sounding on the brain.
✨ THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES:
- A poster that shows 10 physiological signs of anxiety (i.e. fidgety hands, tense body, rapid breathing)
- 3 posters that teach 24 different metaphors for anxiety. These are objects, items, animals, etc. that are ways people often describe how anxiety feels. Examples include butterflies fluttering, bees buzzing, an alarm sounding, a wave crashing, a heavy weight, a drum beating.
- 24 different metaphor cards that represent how anxiety feels in the body in full color and black/white
- 4 different body cut-outs (3 different races as well as black/white included)
- Detailed directions for use and sample discussion questions
