✅ A 3-part interactive, hands-on component that allows students to express their feelings, describe what worries them the most about their parents’ divorce, and choose and practice helpful coping strategies
✅A writing/drawing component that asks students to draw/write about their family and home life before and after the divorce, write a brief poem about their feelings, and fill in their “support heart” with people who care about them and who they can go to for help during this tough time

"I made this lap book and used it with one of my 1st graders. We walked through each of the prompts together and debriefed his answers once he had selected his feelings, etc. It was very helpful to have the explanation of divorce and what can help kids and parents. I like to print off an extra copy of the support/poem page to send home with the student. I usually email the parent with a snapshot of the explanation page (kids should/should not sections) to encourage support at home. I highly recommend this resource for all elementary grades."
